Wilderness Voyagers- Beer and Gear Weekend Presenter Bio and Description Description of Seminar
Introduction to Creek Boating and Running Waterfalls Sunday, June 22, 2008 The opportunity to run a drop like Ohiopyle Falls creates a rush of excitement in any boater. However, a lot goes into the preparation for that ear-to-ear grin in the eddy below the drop. Join Danny Mongno of Werner Paddles, guest instructor for Wilderness Voyagers, as he takes you through the essentials of creek boating and running waterfalls. We'll take a look at everything from reading the river, group communications, safety and the key strokes and boat and body control necessary to take your skills to running more advanced drops. We will work on a variety of both mental and physical skill sets as we build up to several runs of the Falls rapid. Bring the gear you would use to run advanced white water, clothing to be wet for a long period of time and positive attitude towards learning and respect for the river. We look forward to having you. Note: this seminar will include Ohiopyle Falls only if the river is 1.8 feet or less at the Ohiopyle Falls gauge. If the river is too high, this seminar will be held at a venue to be determined.
